The study presented here attempts to estimate the effect of increased price of cigarettes on the corresponding consumption in Tanzania. The study is based on household panel survey data that were conducted over three periods in 2008, 2010 and 2012. For each period price is estimated indirectly. The price increase was substantial and higher than the corresponding aggregate Consumer Price Index (CPI). An attempt is made to relate the increase in price with a possible decrease in cigarette consumption. The methods of analysis are descriptive tabular statistics and the «two-equation econometrics» approach. Over the study period, the descriptive approach showed a substantial increase in price but a modest decrease in cigarette consumption...
The life of the Polish-French pianist and composer Frdric Chopin (1810—1849) was, to a great extent, influenced by his disease. Nevertheless, the diagnosis and differential diagnoses of his suffering remain a matter of debates in numerous biographical studies on the composer’s life. This study shall conduct a systematization and overview of Chopin’s medical history, in an effort to outline pathways to his most probable diagnosis.
What is the real source and driving force of development of the person, of terrestrial civilization in general, and of the communities making up it, which impart to everything that exists, the appropriate dynamics? This issue is still on the agenda, since no satisfactory answer has been found so far, although there have been enough hypotheses and theories to be made. Our attempt to solve the problem and the evidence is presented below. Note also that the data from Ch. 4.2. will help each reader to determine their own essence.
Summing up the result of a research of a totemic problem, the author came to a conclusion that Totemism arose owing to impact of insuperable circumstances on mentality of the person of the emergency situation taking place fifty eight thousand years ago.
