It was an erratic tropical cyclone that killed 22 people and affected six countries. The disturbance that became Cyclone Rewa was first identified on 26 December 1994, to the south-east of Nauru Island. Over the next couple of days, the disturbance gradually developed while moving to the south-south-west, and it was named Rewa late on 28 December.
