The 1989 Recopa Sudamericana was the first Recopa Sudamericana, a football competition for South American clubs that won the previous year`s two most important competitions in the continent: the Copa Libertadores and the Supercopa Sudamericana. The inaugural edition was disputed between Nacional, winners of the 1988 Copa Libertadores, and Racing, winners of the 1988 Supercopa Sudamericana. The first leg was played on January 31 in Montevideo, while the second leg was be played in Buenos Aires on February 6.

Francis Richard Henry Penn Curzon, 5th Earl Howe, CBE, PC, VD (1 May 1884, Mayfair, London - 26 July 1964, Amersham, Buckinghamshire) was a British naval officer, Member of Parliament, motor racing driver and promotor. In the 1918 UK General Election he won the Battersea South seat as the candidate of the Conservative Party, which he held until 1929. While in Parliament he took up motor racing, and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1931. He ascended to the Peerage in 1929, succeeding his father as the 5th Earl Howe. Earl Howe co-founded the British Racing Drivers` Club with Dudley Benjafield, and served as its President until his death in 1964.

He is an adopted member of the Kenaitze Indian Tribe, and is helping the tribe develop a program to teach the Dena`ina language.

The Royalty Theatre was a small London theatre situated at 73 Dean Street, Soho and opened on 25 May 1840 as Miss Kelly`s Theatre and Dramatic School and finally closed to the public in 1938. The architect was Samuel Beazley, a resident in Soho Square, who also designed St James`s Theatre, among others. An earlier theatre also named the Royalty existed in Wells Street, Wellclose Square, London from 1787 until the early part of the nineteenth century.
