The town is a former mining camp situated in the canyon of the upper Eagle River just off U.S. Highway 24 north of Tennessee Pass. The town site is concealed below the highway (which passes over the Red Cliff Truss Bridge) and is accessible by a side road leading to Shrine Pass in the Sawatch Range. Zinc (1820–1840) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare, which in 1818 became the third filly to win both the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket Racecourse and the Oaks at Epsom Downs Racecourse. As a three-year-old in 1823 she won three of her five starts, with her defeats coming against the classic-winning colts Nicolo and Emilius. She won both her races in 1824 but failed to win as a five-year-old in 1825 and was retired from racing.

He belonged to the MacCarthy Reagh dynasty. Owen is commonly called "Sir" Owen MacCarthy (McCartie) in the English records but this may have been only for convenience, for the MacCarthys Reagh were foreign princes at this time, if nominal subjects of the English Crown, and had not yet surrendered their lands for regrant, which occurred in 1606. If he was in fact actually knighted it did not change his status in Carbery.

They were the feeder team of the Edmonton Oilers (1980–81 and 1981–82 seasons) and the New Jersey Devils (1982–83). The Wind played in the Central Hockey League (CHL) at the Britt Brown Arena in the Kansas Coliseum. The team`s general manager (GM) was Larry Gordon for all three seasons of existence.

Spanish Formosa was a Spanish colony established in the north of Taiwan (discovered by Portugal in 1544 and known to Europeans as Formosa) from 1626 to 1642. Designed to protect Spanish and Portuguese trade from interference by the Dutch base in the south of Taiwan, the colony was short-lived due to the unwillingness of colonial authorities in Manila to commit men and materiel to defending it. After seventeen years the last fortress of the Spanish was besieged by Dutch forces, and eventually fell, giving the Dutch control over most of the island.
