The Legend of Sir Lacklands and Other Poems
A pair of warring barons, a maiden in a wood, a youth misplaced at birth and a castle with a kindly gaoler - these are all part of the romance in Beau Hingley`s stirring epic poem, The Legend of Sir Lacklands. The writer uses ornate turns of phrase and Tennysonian diction to highlight the medieval theme and underline the fable contained in his rhyming couplets. Continuing the Gothic tone of `Sir Lacklands`, the poet moves to occasional verse for the second half of his collection, selecting current themes such as our nation`s leadership, the fall of Wembley Stadium, and the spirit of Nature (Jack in the Green).
